NAPLES, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 10/06/16 -- FTE Networks, Inc. (OTCQX: FTNW) ("FTE" or the "Company"), a leading network infrastructure solutions provider in the technology and telecommunications industries, today announced it has joined the Telecom Infra Project, (TIP), co-founded by Facebook, SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Intel and Nokia, to collaborate and help transform how networks are architected and operated leveraging open hardware and software resulting in a lower cost and more scalable network infrastructure.
TIP is an engineer-focused initiative driven by operators, infrastructure providers, system integrators, and other technology companies that aims to reimagine the traditional approach to building and deploying telecom network infrastructure. TIP will explore new approaches and technologies across three initial focus areas: access, backhaul, and core and management. The project groups within these areas will leverage the unique engineering and operational expertise of each member, focusing on developing new technologies and exploring new approaches to deployment in both developed and emerging markets.
With a focus on open solutions and consistent standards, FTE will leverage its build and operate experience in network infrastructure and data center expertise to evolve and simplify network architectures for enhanced service innovation and end-user experience.
"With video and data growth continuing to outpace network growth, new technologies such as Augmented & Virtual Reality, 4K, 8K, and 360video, along with the overlay of social media enriched experiences are being restrained by an already congested and underperforming network," said Mike Bonewitz, CTO of FTE Networks, Inc. "We look forward to leveraging our expertise automating networks and deploying new access technologies to collaborate and propel the evolution of networks into more efficient and agile models."
